With the Houston Baseball team leading Sam Houston 9-6 in the bottom of the fifth inning on Wednesday night, the Don Sanders Cup game was paused due to lightning. The teams will resume the game on March 18 at Constellation Field.

Houston (11-4) hit multiple home runs in a game for the fourth time in five games when senior Aaron Lugo, junior Cade Climie and sophomore Riley Jackson hit homers in the Cougars' second four-run inning of the game. Climie and Jackson homered on back-to-back pitches, marking the second time Houston has hit back-to-back home runs this year, both by Climie and Jackson.

Sam Houston (3-14) scored four in the bottom of the fourth inning to cut Houston's lead to 8-6 but the Cougars scored a run in the top of the fifth to push their lead back to 9-6.
