University of Dayton Vice President and Director of Athletics Neil Sullivan announced that Jayson King, head coach of the Dayton baseball program, has resigned after seven seasons to take an assistant position at perennial college baseball power Vanderbilt.

"We offer our thanks and appreciation to Jayson for accelerating the momentum of our baseball program," said Sullivan. "He embraced the standards at the University of Dayton and was a strong supporter of all our sports. As he moves on to a new opportunity, we look to build on the energy of the program."

A search for the position has begun.

The Dayton baseball program won 165 games over King's seven-year tenure, making the Atlantic 10 Tournament on four occasions and playing for an A-10 Championship twice. The Flyers defeated No. 6-ranked Vanderbilt 8-5 this season to give Dayton its first Top 25 win in 17 years.

Over the last five full seasons, UD ranks fourth in the Atlantic 10 in victories, and its three draft picks are tied for second-most in the league.
