Oklahoma’s John Spikerman (player) and West Virginia’s Derek Clark (pitcher and newcomer) were honored with Big 12 baseball weekly awards for the 14th week of the season.

Spikerman led the Sooners to a title-clinching sweep of Baylor, as the program picked up its first Big 12 regular season title. The junior from Montgomery, Texas hit .643 in the series, collecting multiple hits in each game, scoring nine runs and driving in 10. The centerfielder had his first career grand slam in the front end of the May 11 doubleheader, then followed up that effort with a 4-for-5, 5 RBI performance in the nightcap, adding in a double and a triple in the second game. The health and exercise science major picked up his first career Big 12 weekly honor, compiling a 1.881 on base plus slugging on the week.

Clark shut down Kansas State’s offense Saturday, throwing the first seven innings of the Mountaineers’ combined three-hit shutout. The lefty from Petersburg, Michigan struck out a season-high 10 batters, and erased a pair of baserunners via pickoff. After the senior allowed a leadoff hit on the second pitch of the game, he buckled down and did not allow another K-State hit until the sixth inning, finishing the day with just two hits allowed. The integrated studies major earned his second set of weekly awards, having previously won both pitcher and newcomer of the week on April 8.
