The University of Louisville baseball team will open up the 2023 season as the co-favorite in the Atlantic Coast Conference.
The Cardinals received six first place votes and sit atop the ACC Atlantic Division in the conference's preseason poll released.
Wake Forest also received six votes for the top spot, but had fewer total points than the Cardinals and sits in second. NC State and Florida State tied for third with Clemson, Notre Dame and Boston College rounding out the Atlantic Division.
Miami picked up 10 first place votes and leads the way in the Coastal. Virginia and North Carolina follow the Canes with Virginia Tech, Georgia Tech, Duke and Pitt slotting in behind them.
Louisville and Wake Forest also each received six votes to be the overall champion of the conference.
Dan McDonnell is set to begin his 17th season at the helm of the Louisville program that owns the second-most wins nationally since he took over in 2007. McDonnell returns four position player starters and 11 pitchers that logged at least 10 innings from last year's team that won the program's fifth Atlantic Division crown in seven full seasons since joining the ACC.
The Cardinals have been ranked as high as fifth in the national rankings this preseason.
Louisville begins the 2023 season on Feb. 17 with a three-game series against Bucknell at Jim Patterson Stadium.
