The 2022 MLB Draft joins All-Star week festivities for a second straight year, opening up first-round selections on Sunday, July 17th at 4 p.m. PT on ESPN.
Per MLB.com, Arizona’s sophomore catcher Daniel Susac is the top prospect coming out of the Pac-12 this year, projected to be selected within the top 15 picks.
To follow Susac out of the Pac-12 will likely be Cal's Dylan Beavers. The junior outfielder is considered to be a top-25 prospect in this year's draft.
Stanford’s Brock Jones and Oregon State’s Cooper Hjerpe look to also accomplish their Big League aspirations by being projected late first-round draft picks – rounding out the Pac-12 stars set to be selected early on in the 2022 MLB Draft.
Daniel Susac (Arizona) - Pos: C / Height: 6’4” / Weight: 218 lbs. / Age: 21
Susac led the Wildcats last season with a .366 batting average and added 19 doubles, two triples, 12 home runs, and 61 RBI at the plate. The sophomore collected Pac-12 All-Conference and D1Baseball Third-Team All-American honors in 2022.
Dylan Beavers (California) - Pos: OF / Height: 6’4” / Weight: 206 lbs. / Age: 20
Beavers started all 56 games in right field for Cal and led the Golden Bears in RBIs (50), total bases (135), sacrifice flies (5) and multi-RBI games (13). He finishes his career ranked seventh on Cal’s all-time career home runs list with 36.
Brock Jones (Stanford) - Pos: OF / Height: 6’0” / Weight: 197 lbs. / Age: 21
Jones launched 21 home runs last season and started in all 65 games for the Cardinal. The junior outfielder hit a team-high five triples and finished with 57 RBI to help Stanford advance to consecutive College World Series appearances.
Cooper Hjerpe (Oregon State) - Pos: LHP / Height: 6’3” / Weight: 200 lbs. / Age: 21
Oregon State’s ace led the nation with 161 strikeouts and his 11 wins were only one shy of tying the national lead. Hjerpe held opponents to a .180 batting average and finished 11-2 with a 2.53 ERA. The sophomore collected College Baseball Foundation National Pitcher of the Year and Perfect Game National Pitcher of the Year awards in 2022.
