No. 3 Oklahoma (35-20) took down No. 2 Texas Tech 6-3 (37-19) in game eight of the 2022 Phillips 66 Big 12 Championship at Globe Life Field. OU has started 2-0 at the Big 12 Championship for the first time since winning the title in 2013.

After a scoreless first inning, the Sooners struck first with a three-RBI homerun from Jackson Nicklaus.
 
The Red Raiders responded in the third inning as Hudson White scored when Dillon Carter hit a one-RBI sacrifice fly to cut the Sooners’ lead to 3-1.
 
In the seventh inning, OU’s Kendall Pettis and Brett Squires scored on a two-RBI single by Peyton Graham to extend Oklahoma’s lead to 5-1. A throwing error brought in John Spikerman to further the Sooners’ lead to 6-1.
 
The Red Raiders answered in the bottom of the ninth inning with a two-RBI homerun from Kurt Wilson to cut the lead to 6-3, but senior Trevin Michael was able to put away the game for the Sooners.
 
Sophomore Jake Bennett (W, 7-3) threw a career-high 7.2 innings for OU. He fanned a career-high 12 batters while giving up just two hits and one run before being relieved by Michael.
 
Junior Andrew Morris (L, 7-2) pitched 6.2 innings for Texas Tech, giving up five hits and five runs, before being relieved by junior Garrett Crowley.
 
The Red Raiders will face No. 7 Kansas State (28-28) in an elimination game on Friday at 7 p.m. CT on Big 12 Now on ESPN+ with the winner playing Oklahoma on Saturday at 12:30 p.m. CT on Big 12 Now on ESPN+.
