Oklahoma State capped a two-game midweek series sweep of Arizona State with an 11-6 win over the Sun Devils Wednesday at Phoenix Municipal Stadium.
The win extended the fourth-ranked Cowboys' winning streak to four games as they improved to 6-2 on the season.
Caeden Trenkle celebrated a career day at the plate as he smacked a pair of three-run home runs and finished with seven RBIs.
Jake Thompson and Nolan McLean had three hits apiece for the Pokes, while Zach Ehrhard also tallied two hits.
Bayden Root picked up his first win in a Cowboy uniform as he worked 4 1/3 innings in relief of starter Dillon Marsh and allowed just one run while striking out two.
Root was one of five OSU relievers that combined to give up just one run and six hits over the final 8 1/3 innings.
OSU jumped out to an early lead when Trenkle smashed a three-run home run to dead center field with two outs in the first inning.
But ASU answered in the bottom of the frame, erasing its deficit and taking the lead with a five-run rally as the Sun Devils knocked Marsh out of the game after just 2/3 of an inning.
The Cowboys trailed 6-5 entering the sixth but went back on top after an RBI single by Thompson and a sacrifice fly off the bat of Trenkle.
OSU put the game away with a four-run rally in the seventh, with each of the runs coming with two outs. An RBI single by McLean made the score 8-6 before Trenkle stepped to the plate and deposited a pitch into the bullpen in left field.
The Cowboys return to action Friday when they open a weekend series against Gonzaga at O'Brate Stadium. The opener is scheduled for a 4 p.m. start with the Saturday and Sunday contests set for 1 p.m.
