Despite goals from Chase Gresock and Hampus Rydqvist, the Miami hockey team dropped a 3-2 overtime decision at Colorado College Saturday night.

Matthew Gleason scored 27 seconds into the extra session to give the Tigers (9-18-3, 6-13-1 NCHC) two points to Miami's one in the conference standings.

Derek Daschke led the RedHawks offensively with two points, assisting on both goals for the visitors. Ludvig Persson made 35 stops in net for Miami (6-22-2, 3-16-1 NCHC).

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • 10:50 1st (CC 1-0) | Tyler Coffey opened the scoring for CC midway through the first period. Brett Chorske sent the puck along the end boards to Jackson Jutting, who thought about a wraparound attempt and instead fed Coffey from behind the net for a quick shot in front.
  • 0:52 2nd (Miami 1-1) | After a major penalty against the Tigers late in the opening period, Miami capitalized with a power-play goal shortly after the second stanza began. One-touch passing from Daschke to Matt Barry led to a shot from the left side that Gresock redirected into the goal to make it 1-1.
  • 12:42 2nd (Miami 2-1) | The RedHawks struck again later in the period for their first even strength goal of the weekend. Joe Cassetti won an offensive zone faceoff cleanly to Daschke, who sent it over to Rydqvist. With Ryan Savage screening CC goaltender Matt Vernon, Rydqvist scored from long range to put Miami ahead.
  • 7:12 3rd (CC 2-2) | Colorado College's second goal came from the same line that had provided the Tigers' first: Chorske set up Jutting, who kicked the puck free to Coffey. Coffey skated it out from the corner and slid a quick shot past Persson to tie the game at 2.
  • 0:27 OT (CC 3-2) | After an early scoring chance for Miami in the 3-on-3 overtime, the Tigers rushed the other way, with Gleason taking a Bryan Yoon pass and spinning to fire the puck toward the net. Sprawled in front of the goal, Logan Will tried to knock the loose puck home, but Gleason was ultimately credited with the game-winner as the puck just slid over the goal line, with a video review confirming the play.
