Big news out of the northern panhandle of WV... West Liberty has advanced to the Elite Eight of the Div. II tournament. They shocked Atlantic Region #1 seed Hillsdale by steamrolling them. Really happy for them after last year's 27-4 team had their season stopped short.
"WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. – The West Liberty University men's basketball team took control with a 15-1 run at the start of the second half and powered past No. 9-ranked Hillsdale (Mich.), 78-61, in Tuesday night's NCAA Division II Atlantic Region championship game inside the ASRC.
The Hilltoppers' (18-4) sixth Atlantic Region title since 2011 earned Coach Ben Howlett 's high-flying squad a berth in next week's NCAA Division II Elite Eight Championship, which will be held March 24-27 in Evansville, Ind. Pairings and game times will be announced later this week..."
