The Oklahoma State duo of Jason Taylor II (defensive) and Jaylen Warren (newcomer) joined Oklahoma’s Caleb Williams (offensive) and Iowa State’s Andrew Mevis (special teams) as Big 12 football award winners for week seven. Warren picked up his fourth accolade of the season while Williams was recognized for the second consecutive week. Taylor and Mevis are first-time honorees.

Williams became the first Oklahoma true freshman to start a game at quarterback since 1990 and just the fifth overall. He led the No. 4 Sooners to a 52-31 win over TCU for their nation-leading 15th straight victory. Williams completed 18 of 23 passes for 295 yards and four touchdowns without an interception (243.4 passer rating) and ran nine times for 66 yards, including a 41-yard score. He accounted for as many touchdowns (five) as he had incompletions. His 295 passing yards and four passing TDs both set OU true freshman records as the Sooners finished with 525 total yards and averaged a season-high 9.1 yards per play. His 261 passing yards in the first half were the most by an OU true freshman quarterback in any half in program history.

Taylor returned a second-quarter interception 85 yards for a touchdown when Texas was holding a 17-3 advantage and at the Oklahoma State 18-yard line. Taylor's pick-six marks the longest interception return for a Big 12 player since 2019 and is the second-longest return for an autonomy league player this season. It ties for the fourth-longest interception return in school history and is the longest for OSU since 2001. The play marked the third touchdown of Taylor's career. Last season, he had an 85-yard fumble return for a touchdown at Kansas State and returned an onside kick 48 yards for a TD against Texas Tech. The junior FS also finished with seven tackles, ranking as the second-most on the team. Taylor's pick-six marked the sixth non-offensive touchdown for Oklahoma State since the start of the 2020 season, three of which were scored by him.

Mevis scored 14 of Iowa State’s points in a 33-20 win over Kansas State. He was perfect on all his field goal attempts, going 4-of-4 to become the first Cyclone to make four in a game since Connor Assalley in 2018. All of Mevis' FGs were 40 yards or longer, connecting on 44, 41, 41 and 40 yards. The senior made a 41-yarder as time expired in the first half to give the Cyclones a 20-7 lead.

Warren rushed 33 times for 193 yards in OSU's 32-24 win on the road at No. 25 Texas, accounting for nearly half of the Cowboys’ offensive yardage. In the fourth quarter alone, Warren carried 14 times for 138 yards. His performance in the final quarter was the driving factor in OSU turning an 8-point deficit entering the quarter into an 8-point victory. It was his fourth consecutive 100-yard rushing contest. In the last four games, the senior has 659 rushing yards (164.8 per game). He is the only player with two of the top five single-game rushing yardage totals in the Big 12 this season, including No. 1 (218 at Boise State) and No. 5 (193 at Texas).
