Like most people, I have to hit google to find out who the latest head coach of Jayhawks Football is. Coming off an especially disappointing season that saw KU go 0-9, the football program had to make an unexpected pivot when old allegations of misconduct at LSU resulted in Les Miles getting fired from that basketball college in Lawrence.
But fear not, Kansas football fans. (btw, if any Kansas football fans don't see this, could one of the other fifteen shoot them a link?) The program is not rudderless with Lance Leipold is at the helm. (Does that sound like the name of a supporting character in Dudley Do Right to anyone else?) Heading into this new era of Kansas football, there is a lot of optimism. There has to be; you can't do worse than winless. The only place to go is up for Kansas.
Looking ahead to the 2021 season, the kickoff and TV times for the first three games of Leipold's tenure have been set and include a nationally televised game at Coastal Carolina in primetime. Yes, that is actually the highlight - a road game at a Sun Belt school that visited and beat Kansas last season. It's a revenge tour, baby!
KU Football opens the 2021 season on Friday, Sept. 3 against FCS foe South Dakota at 7 p.m. on ESPN+.
The next week, Kansas travels to Coastal Carolina for a nationally televised on ESPN2 and will kickoff at 6:30 p.m., CT (7:30p ET/local).
And if that doesn't have football fans excited yet, hold on to your hats. Kansas will open Big 12 play against the Baylor Bears.
BU went 2-7 last season. That means combined, these two powerhouses delivered ... *double checks my math* ... two total wins last season. And you know both these programs are hungry for more ... because how could they not be?
Where can you catch this Big 12 showdown? Kansas will host Baylor at 2:30p CT on ESPN+.
The TV and kickoff details for the rest of Kansas Football's 2021 games will be announced throughout the season either 12 or 6 days before kickoff.
Can you feel the excitement? No? Then stick your tongue on a battery, because you'll feel more energy than Kansas Football has produced in the last decade.
