The TCU Horned Frogs faced off against the Houston Cougars Friday night, in a game that saw the Cougars snap their nine-game losing streak to TCU with a 30-19 victory.

The Cougars, who entered the game with a 1-4 record and coming off back-to-back shutout losses, managed to dominate the Horned Frogs by gaining 361 yards and holding a 12-minute advantage in time of possession.

This win marked Houston's first victory in Fort Worth since 1989, when both teams were members of the SWC. The game started with TCU's defense making a fourth-down stop to end a promising Houston drive. However, the Cougars quickly turned things around, scoring on four of their next five drives to take a commanding 24-0 lead by halftime.

TCU struggled to find their rhythm offensively and couldn't recover from the early deficit. Houston quarterback Zeon Chriss, making his first start of the season, played a pivotal role in the victory. Chriss was 15-of-18 for 141 yards, with a touchdown and a passer rating of 167.57. His performance, combined with the Cougars' strong offensive showing, was a key factor in their win.

On the other side, TCU's quarterback Josh Hoover had a tough game, throwing for 356 yards and three touchdowns, but it wasn't enough to overcome a reinvigorated Coogs team. Despite his efforts, the Horned Frogs couldn't match Houston's offensive output and ultimately fell short.

The Cougars' Re'Shaun Sanford also made an impact with a rushing touchdown, contributing to Houston's overall offensive success.

It was a surprising and impressive performance by the Houston Cougars, who managed to turn their season around with this crucial win.

Houston now heads into a bye week, before meeting with Kansas at Arrowhead Stadium on October 19. TCU will also get a week off before traveling to Utah on the 19th.
