Iowa State senior wide receiver Xavier Hutchinson has been named a semifinalist for The Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award. The award is annually presented to the nation's outstanding Division I college offensive player who was either born in Texas, graduated from a Texas high school or played at a Texas-based junior college or four-year college.
Hutchinson, who played at Blinn Junior College in Texas before Iowa State, broke his own school record with 105 receptions this season and has topped the school's previous career record with 252 catches.
The Jacksonville, Florida, native, has at least eight catches in every game this season and 100 yards in seven of the 11 Cyclone contests.
Hutchinson leads the nation in receptions and receptions per game, while also ranking fifth nationally in receiving yards (1,160).
He has 45 more receptions than the next best Big 12 Conference pass catcher.
