For the second consecutive year, Wake Forest sophomore defensive back Nick Andersen was named to the 2022 Lott IMPACT Trophy Watch List, as announced by the Pacific Club IMPACT Foundation.

In its 19th year, the Lott IMPACT Trophy honors defensive players based on their impact on and off the field, including the core values of integrity, maturity, performance, academics, community and tenacity. The organization has donated more than $1.6 million to schools and other charities around the country.

Of the players announced to the watch list, Andersen is just one of eight from the ACC. This is the third consecutive season a Demon Deacon has been on the list after Andersen a season ago and Carlos "Boogie" Basham Jr. was named to the watch list in 2020.

In his second season with the Deacs, Andersen helped lead the Demon Deacons to a historic 2021 campaign as the Demon Deacons tied the schools record with 11 wins, set the program with a perfect 8-0 start to the season and captured both the ACC Atlantic and Gator Bowl titles.

He played and started in 11 games and tallied 44 tackles, had one tackle for loss, one interception and tallied three pass breakups.

His play helped Wake Forest's defense force a Dave Clawson-era record 29 turnovers (15 interceptions, 14 fumble recoveries). That total is the most since 2008 when Wake Forest tallied 37 turnovers. The Deacs 15 interceptions are the most by a Wake Forest team since 2008 (18). Additionally, Andersen's play on the backend helped Wake Forest record 38 sacks last fall, which was a Clawson-era record and it ranks second in program history behind 1992 when the Deacs totaled 46.

The winner of the 2021 Lott Trophy, which will be announced in December, will receive $25,000 for his university's general scholarship fund.
