Houston’s Milos Uzan (player), Baylor’s VJ Edgecombe (co-newcomer) and Iowa State’s Joshua Jefferson (co-newcomer) were tabbed for Big 12 men’s basketball weekly awards after each leading their teams to 2-0 weeks.

Uzan led the Cougars in a double-overtime win at No. 12 Kansas, while averaging 15.5 points, 5.0 rebounds and 7.0 assists. At the end of the first overtime, the junior guard assisted on both 3-pointers and added a steal in the final seven seconds as Houston erased a six-point deficit in that time to force double OT. The Las Vegas native finished the 92-86 thriller with 17 points, nine assists and nine rebounds as the Coogs completed the most-improbable comeback in the Big 12 since 2017, according to KenPom’s win expectancy (0.4%). In Wednesday’s win against Utah, the integrated studies major scored 14 points while shooting 6-of-9 from the field and adding five assists. He finished the week with a 14-to-1 assist-to-turnover ratio, moving into the national lead in that category (4.57), to earn his first career Big 12 weekly award.

Edgecombe averaged 25.5 points while shooting 51.6% from the field in wins over Kansas State and Utah. In the 70-62 win over the Wildcats, the Bahamian national team member scored 30 points, becoming the first Baylor freshman to do so since Keyonte George in 2023. The guard added a 21-point performance at Utah, increasing his average to 17.4 points per Conference game, which leads Big 12 freshmen and ranks fifth among all players. During the week, he went 7-for-13 from deep, adding seven rebounds, six assists, four steals and two blocks to collect his first career Big 12 weekly award.

Jefferson was honored for the fifth time in seven weeks as the Cyclones defeated UCF and Arizona State. In the 108-83 win over the Knights, the junior from Las Vegas had 30 points, seven rebounds, five assists, four steals and a block to become the first player in Conference history to reach those totals in the same game. The forward notched the first 30-point game for a Cyclone since 2022-23, as ISU had the highest scoring total for a Big 12 team since 2017-18. The St. Mary’s transfer had his eighth double-double of the season as Iowa State defeated Arizona State 76-61, finishing with 13 points, 10 rebounds while nabbing another four steals.
