A clutch 3-pointer by Aggie guard Manny Obaseki gave the No. 13 Texas A&M men's basketball team its first lead of the night with :13 seconds remaining in a 63-62 road win over the No. 16 Ole Miss Rebels on Wednesday at the Pavilion at Ole Miss.

Playing in front of an above-capacity crowd of 10,008, the Aggies clinched the victory with a defensive stand as they forced an Ole Miss miss with two seconds left to silence the Rebel faithful. With the win, the Aggies improved to 15-4 overall and 4-2 in SEC play. The Rebels dropped their second straight game and fell to 15-4 and 4-2.

Obaseki's dagger culminated another big comeback for the Aggies, who trailed by as many as 11 points and faced a two-possession deficit with under a minute to play. Obaseki, the senior from Allen, Texas, heated up late, scoring all 12 of his points in the final 14 minutes of the game. In 18 minutes of action, Obaseki connected on 4-of-7 field goal attempts with a pair of treys and was perfect from the line with a pair of free throws.

Down 11 with 17:02 remaining, the resilient Aggies cut the Rebels' lead to one-possession game three times in the middle four minutes of the second half, but Ole Miss was always able to respond. But after an old fashioned three-point play by the Rebels with 3:49 remaining, the A&M defense held Ole Miss without a field goal for the remainder of the game and allowed just two free throws.

Obaseki and Pharrell Payne were keys to the second half rally, scoring all 22 of their points in the final 20 minutes. Payne connected on 4-of-6 shots and was also a perfect 2-of-2 from the free throw line, while grabbing six rebounds (five in the second half).

Also playing a key role in the rally was Zhuric Phelps, who scored a pair of buckets in the final 30 seconds to set the stage for Obaseki's heroics. The senior from Midland, Texas led the Aggies with 14 points and pulled down six rebounds.

Other statistical standouts were Solomon Washington with seven rebounds and two blocks and Wade Taylor IV with five assists. Andersson Garcia and Taylor led the way with two steals.

The Aggies wore down the Rebels with their relentless rebounding that led to a 17-board advantage, 48-31, including a 14-6 bulge on the offensive glass.

Ole Miss took a seven-point advantage into halftime at 33-26 after hotly-contested first 20 minutes. A trio of Aggies paced the Aggies with six points from Hayden Hefner, Phelps and CJ Wilcher. Hefner and Wilcher combined to go 4-of-7 from the beyond the arc. Texas A&M had a 23-19 advantage in rebounds, although the two teams were nearly even on the offensive glass (A&M led 6-5).
