For the second time this season, forward Ian Smikle has been named the American Athletic Conference Freshman of the Week, the league announced.

He also received the award on December 23.

This is the third freshman of the week award for Tulsa after guard Jaye Nash earned the accolade on Dec. 30.

In Tulsa's two wins this past week at UTSA and against Charlotte, Smikle averaged 7.0 points and 10 rebounds while shooting 75 percent from the floor. The West Palm Beach, Fla. native scored eight points with 10 rebounds in Tulsa's comeback win over UTSA in the midweek. He followed with six points, 10 boards an assist and a steal as the Hurricane topped Charlotte in the Reynolds Center. Smikle now leads the team in rebounding, averaging 6.2 rebounds per game alongside his 6.4 scoring average.

Graduate guard Dwon Odom also picked up weekly accolades as he was named to The American Weekly Honorable Mention team. Odom averaged 16.5 points, 5.0 rebounds and 7.5 assists in Tulsa's two wins. The Alpharetta, Ga. native was 13-of-20 (65 percent) from the floor for the week. In the Hurricane comeback at UTSA, he recorded his second double-double of the season, putting up 11 points with 10 assists. He followed up with a dominating performance against Charlotte on Sunday, staving off the 49ers with 22 points, six rebounds and five assists. Odom was 10-of-14 (71.4 percent) from the floor, knocked down his lone 3-pointer attempt and added a block.

The Golden Hurricane has a midweek bye before heading to Tampa, Fla. to take on South Florida. Tipoff against the Bulls is set for 2 p.m. on ESPN+.
