Five Commodores scored in double figures as the Vanderbilt men’s basketball team earned an 85-82 road victory at Georgia on Saturday afternoon. It was Georgia’s first home loss of the season after 10 consecutive home wins.
Vanderbilt (10-9, 3-3 SEC) was led by 19 points from Ezra Manjon, while Tyrin Lawrence (15), Myles Stute (14), Trey Thomas (12) and Jordan Wright (12) also scored in double digits.
The day saw Wright eclipse 1,000 career points, becoming the 51st student-athlete in program history to reach the mark.
Vandy held the lead for more than 35 of the 40 minutes of the game, with the edge ballooning to as much as 12 with 5:46 to go in the second half.
Georgia (13-6, 3-3) cut the deficit to one with 2:13 to go, but the Dores made seven free throws down the stretch to seal the win.
