"You just have to keep putting yourself in these positions to win games," Texas Tech coach Chris Beard said. "My tone hasn't changed. There's a poise and confidence required to win a game down the stretch and I though our guys showed that tonight. We made just enough plays on defense and offense. It was a gutsy game between two good teams and we made the plays at the end."

He finished the game 6-for-13 from the field and 9-for-10 at the free throw line to take his season total to 13.6 points per game.

"My teammates trusted me with the ball and I just attacked when I got it," said Shannon, who scored 11 straight for the Red Raiders midway through the second half. "I just made some plays happen when I saw opportunity."
