A pair of senior guards picked up Big 12 men’s basketball awards as Kansas’ Ochai Agbaji was named Player of the Week while Iowa State’s Gabe Kalscheur was chosen Newcomer of the Week. Agbaji collected his third career honor and second of the season. Kalscheur was also recognized for the third time, including sweeping the awards on November 29.

Agbaji posted back-to-back 20-point games in two Kansas Big 12 victories with 22 versus No. 15 Iowa State and 20 against West Virginia. He made four three-pointers in each game and shot 50 percent from beyond the arc. The senior guard has made four or more threes seven times this season and has made 14 from beyond the arc in his last three outings. Agbaji tied his season high in rebounds with seven in both contests. He has pulled down seven rebounds in five games this season.

He averaged 5.0 three-pointers made per game, connecting on four against Kansas and making a season-high six in the Cyclones' win over Texas. The senior guard had 22 points against the Longhorns, going 8-for-16 from the field and 6-for-12 behind the arc, including a three-pointer that extended ISU's lead back to eight with just over four minutes remaining. Against KU, Kalscheur had 14 points, making 4-of-9 from long distance. He hit his 200th career three-pointer against the Longhorns.
