Andrew Jones and Greg Brown captured Big 12 men’s basketball weekly awards after leading No. 4 Texas to wins over Iowa State and at No. 14/16 West Virginia. Jones earned his second career player of the week while Brown picked up the newcomer honor for the second time this season.

Jones averaged 19.5 ppg and 4.5 rpg, hitting 16-of-34 (.471) field goals, including 7-of-16 (.438) from 3-point range, in 36.1 mpg. Against Iowa State, Jones set his career high in scoring with 23 points while converting a career-best 10-of-20 field goals and adding six boards and four assists in a season-high 37 minutes. He returned to hit the game-winning three-pointer with 1.8 seconds left in Saturday's 72-70 victory at West Virginia. The junior guard tallied 16 points (4-7 threes) in 35 minutes and registered a plus-minus total of +13. Late in the first half, Jones became the 39th player in program history to reach the 1,000-career point milestone. Saturday also marked the three-year anniversary from when Coach Shaka Smart told the Texas players that Andrew had been diagnosed with leukemia (Jan. 9, 2018).

Brown averaged a double-double with 13.5 ppg and 11.0 rpg while hitting .500 (10-20) from the floor, including a 3-of-8 (.375) mark from beyond the arc. He had 15 points and eight boards in 22 minutes against Iowa State. Brown posted his fourth double-double of the year with 12 points and 14 rebounds (tied his season high) in a season-best 33 minutes in the win at West Virginia.
