Gabe Kalscheur scored 30 points and led Iowa State to a 78-59 win over No. 9 Memphis in the NIT Season Tip-Off championship game on Friday night at the Barclays Center. The win was the largest margin of victory over a top 10 team in school history.

Kalscheur was named MVP of the tournament. Tristan Enaruna and Aljaž Kunc each scored 11 points for the Cyclones (6-0), who led by five points at halftime and increased their advantage to as much as 25 in the second half. Kunc had a season-high seven rebounds, while dishing out a career-high four assists. Tyrese Hunter had five assists, while Kalscheur grabbed eight rebounds.

With a season-high 30 points from Kalscheur, and Izaiah Brockington's 30 points against 25th-ranked Xavier on Wednesday night, Iowa State has had back-to-back 30 point performances by two different players for the first time since Jeff Grayer and Lafester Rhodes in 1988. Kalscheur went over 1,000 points for his career in the victory.

Emoni Bates led Memphis (5-1) with 12 points and Landers Nolley II scored 11. But the Cyclones were not fazed by their more celebrated opponent.

Much like they did in their win over No. 25 Xavier Wednesday, the Cyclones generated their offense in the paint. Iowa State outscored Memphis 22-16 over the first ten minutes of the second half, with 10 of the Cyclones' points coming on layups and Brockington's two-handed alley-oop jam.

The Cyclones finished with 13 steals and 10 blocked shots, the first time having 10 or more of each in a game since Nov. 23, 2004. Iowa State forced 22 Memphis turnovers, scoring 23 points off turnovers.
