A second-half comeback came up short as the Bulldogs fell to Texas A&M, 57-50, Tuesday afternoon in the Maui Invitational being played in Las Vegas.

The Bulldogs cut what was once a 13-point deficit to only three in the final minute before the Aggies were able to close out the contest.

Butler was done in by 19 turnovers, which the Aggies converted into 21 points.

Jair Bolden led the Bulldogs with 10 points; Jayden Taylor added nine. Myles Wilmoth was one of three Bulldogs with seven points, matching his career-high.

Quenton Jackson came off the bench to lead Texas A&M with 15 points and five steals.

Butler led, 18-17, with 7:47 remaining in the first half. The Aggies then closed the half with a 16-3 run, aided by nine of Butler's 13 first-half turnovers during that closing stretch. Texas A&M led 33-21 after the first 20 minutes of play.

The largest lead held by Texas A&M was 13 (37-24) with 16:56 remaining in the contest. Butler would chip away at points throughout the second half and eventually used a 10-3 run to cut the lead to 50-45 with 6:46 to play. A three-minute Butler scoring drought would follow.

A Chuck Harris putback with 27 seconds remaining would cut the lead to 53-50, but four made Aggie free throws and three empty Butler possessions led to the final margin.

Butler is now 3-3 on the season; Texas A&M improves to 5-1.

Butler will now play its third and final contest of the Maui Invitational Wednesday at 9 p.m. (Eastern; 6 p.m. Pacific / Las Vegas). The Bulldogs' opponent will be either Notre Dame or Chaminade depending on the result of their game being played later this evening.
