The Shockers opened their home conference schedule with an, 82-76, victory over Cincinnati inside of Charles Koch Arena.

Ricky Council IV had the best game of his college career and sparked the Shockers in the second half. Council IV had 23 points, six rebounds and two assists.

Council IV had a showstopping transition dunk in the midst of the game-defining 5:27 stretch where he scored 13 of the Shockers' 19 points.

From the 13:50 mark of the second half to the 8:23 mark, the Shockers went from having a one-point deficit to a 10-point lead. Tyson Etienne scored five in a row about 90 game seconds later to expand the Wichita State lead to 16.

Morris Udeze also had a standout performance as well. He tied his career high with 18 points. Udeze went 8-for-12 from the field and added five rebounds.

Tyson Etienne made just one basket in the first half, but turned it on in the second half to score 16 points on six made field goals. Etienne has scored 10 or more points in all but two games this season.

Wichita State's win was the first against Cincinnati in seven tries and the first since the two teams met during the Shockers' inaugural season in the American Athletic Conference.

Wichita State forced fewer turnovers (13) than Cincinnati (15), but the Shockers scored more points off those turnovers (28) than the Bearcats (11).

The Shockers next matchup comes at 6 p.m. on Wednesday against Tulsa inside of Charles Koch Arena. That game will be broadcasted on ESPN+.
