NC State baseball is headed back to the College World Series for the first time since 2013 and its third time in program history, thanks to its 3-2 win over No. 1 Arkansas, on Sunday evening in a winner-take-all game at Baum-Walker Stadium in Fayetteville, Ark.

At least one Atlantic Coast Conference team has reached the College World Series in Omaha each of the previous 15 years the event has been held, and multiple ACC teams have reached the CWS nine times during that span.

After suffering a 21-2 loss in game one then evening the series with a 6-5 win in game two, the Wolfpack gutted out the win over the number one overall seed in the NCAA Tournament.

NC State improves to 35-18 and heads to Omaha next week while the Razorbacks end their season with a 50-13 record.

Charlie Welch's two-out double brought in the first run of the game in the second inning, but Jonny Butler's two-run home run in the third pulled the Pack ahead 2-1.

After three scoreless innings, Cayden Wallace knotted the game at two when he sent a solo shot over the left field wall in the seventh.

In the ninth, Jose Torres hit the heroic game-winning run when he sent a leadoff homer over the left field wall.

The Wolfpack trio of Matt Willadsen, Chris Villaman and Evan Justice (5-2) combined to allow just four hits and one earned run to score.
