Mizzou Baseball (12-32, 5-19 SEC) dropped the series finale against No. 5 Tennessee (37-11, 17-7 SEC) 10-2 on Sunday at Taylor Stadium.

The Tigers struck first in the opening frame on a manufactured run. Junior Josh Holt, Jr., singled and swiped second. He later scored on an Andrew Keefer sacrifice fly to give Mizzou a 1-0 lead.

Tennessee responded with a three-run home run from Max Ferguson in the second inning to take the lead. The Vols added another in the fourth and three in the fifth to push the advantage to 7-1. Another three-spot in the sixth closed the scoring for Tennessee on the day.

Mizzou added a late marker on a Torin Montgomery sac fly in the ninth for the final margin of 10-2.

Head coach Steve Bieser on Sunday defeat…

"Obviously disappointing loss. We get out of that jam in the first with our pitching and then we put together a really good offensive inning of playing the game, and playing as a team, with Tre Morris moving the runner over. That was solid baseball right there and for whatever reason it went downhill from that point and we just had a tough time of creating anything, whether that was on the mound or in the batter's box."
