A four-run sixth inning helped No. 13 TCU rally from an early deficit en route to a 10-4 win over No. 25 Michigan Friday afternoon at Globe Life Field. Isaac Cadena and Nolan Traeger homered in the contest.
The Rundown
TCU found itself in a 3-1 hole entering the sixth, but a one-out error put the tying runs on base. After Cole Cramer stole second with two outs, Sam Myers dumped a single into left field to tie the game at three. Two batters later, the Horned Frogs had a 5-3 lead courtesy of a Sawyer Strosnider base hit.
The Frogs added to their lead in the seventh. Isaac Cadena was hit by a pitch to start the inning and scored on a Chase Brunson triple to right for a 6-3 lead.
Michigan fought back in the eighth, picking up a run and putting the tying runs on base. Braeden Sloan stranded the runners on the corners with his third strikeout of the afternoon, keeping it a 6-4 ballgame.
Another four spot, this one in the ninth, put the game out of reach. Cadena cranked a two-run shot with nobody out to make it an 8-4 game. With two outs, Nolan Traeger joined the home run party with another two run blast.
Caedmon Parker (1-0) started for the Frogs and turned in six strong innings. After giving up a two run home run in the first and a two-out RBI single in the second, he shut down the Wolverine offense. Over his final four innings of work, he surrendered just four hits. Sloan took over in the seventh and allowed one run on two hits. He walked a batter and struck out four to earn the save.
