Texas Baseball blasted Abilene Christian 20-0 in a run-rule midweek win on Wednesday at UFCU Disch-Falk Field.
The Longhorns (27-12, 8-4) clinched their first shutout of the 2023 season, while allowing only two hits.
Kobe Minchey had his second start on the mound and went for three complete innings with two strikeouts, a walk and one hit to secure the win. Zane Morehouse threw one scoreless inning out of the bullpen, Charlie Hurley pitched two complete innings in relief and Andre Duplantier II finished the game in the top of the seventh.
Dylan Campbell went 2-for-3 with two runs scored, one RBI, and is now at eight home runs on the season. Garret Guillemette went 2-for-2 with one homerun, three runs scored and three RBI. Jared Thomas finished 2-for-2 with a double, a triple, four RBI and three runs scored.
In the bottom of the first, the Longhorns got right to business with three runs on back-to-back home runs hit by Campbell and Brown, to make the score 3-0.
Texas sent 13 men to the plate and scored eight runs on three hits, six walks, and a hit batter to increase their lead to 11-0, in the bottom of the second.
The Longhorns added four insurance runs in the bottom of the third on four hits, including Thomas' first career triple, to take the score to 15-0.
In the bottom of the sixth, Texas brought in five more runs on two hits to finish the game with a season high of 20 runs, making the final score 20-0.
Texas will remain at home this weekend to face Oklahoma in Big 12 play, starting on Friday at 7 p.m. at UFCU Disch-Falk Field.
