Maryland baseball shortstop Matt Shaw has been named Big Ten and Perfect Game Player of The Week, both organizations announced Monday.
Matt Shaw had a tremendous week at the plate batting .533 with eight hits, 2 home runs and 16 RBI to help the Terps secure three victories including a series win over No. 22 Iowa. In Friday's win over the Hawkeyes Shaw helped power the Terps offensively going 4-for-4 at the plate with two home runs and six RBI. Shaw's first home run of the series was a 507 ft grand slam that gave Maryland a 7-6 lead which would help carry them to a competitive 10-9 series-opening victory in Iowa City.
Shaw, the no. 4 ranked shortstop in D1Baseball's most recent positional ranking, has hit seven home runs over the last 10 games including two multi-home run games against No. 22 Iowa and UCF.
The Terps return home to face-off against William & Mary at Bob 'Turtle' Smith Stadium at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 4. The game will be broadcast on B1G+ and the Maryland Baseball Network.
