The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly baseball honors for the ninth week of the season.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Bryson Worrell, Sr., OF, East Carolina
Worrell helped propel the Pirates into first place in The American’s standings with a 3-game sweep of UCF, hitting .438 (7-16) for the week with four runs, one triple, two home runs and five runs driven in. He had multi-hit games in each of the three games against the Knights.
 
PITCHER OF THE WEEK
Garrett Harker, Fr., Cincinnati
Harker came in from the bullpen and shut down Wichita State in a 7-5, 14-inning win on Saturday. The freshman entered in the eighth inning and tossed six scoreless innings, giving up just one hit and two walks while recording four strikeouts. He prevented the Shockers from walking off with the win five consecutive innings.
 
HONOR ROLL
Griffin Merritt, Jr., OF, Cincinnati
Merritt hit .389 (7-18) with seven runs scored, three home runs and eight runs driven in as the Bearcats swept Wichita State.
 
Jake Kuchmaner, Sr., P, East Carolina
Kuchmaner pitched 5.1 innings of the Pirates’ 10-0 shutout of UCF on Saturday, striking out four batters while only allowing two hits and a walk.
 
Brandon Uhse, Jr., OF, Houston
Uhse led The American in batting last week, hitting .538 (7-13) with four runs scored, three home runs and six RBI as the Cougars won a 3-game series with Tulane.
 
Landon Gartman, Fr., P, Memphis
Gartman led off the Tigers’ 3-game series win at South Florida by earning the win on Friday, allowing two runs while striking out six batters in seven innings of work.
 
Carmine Lane, R-So., 3B, South Florida
Lane continued his hot streak from the plate, hitting .529 (9-17) with three runs scored and five runs driven in for the Bulls.
