The Southeastern Conference portion of Vanderbilt’s 2021 baseball schedule is set, as the league office announced the conference slate. Each school will play 10 three-game weekend series.
The Commodores will open conference play at home for the first time since 2016, welcoming South Carolina to Hawkins Field from March 19-21.
Vanderbilt will then hit the road for three of its next four weekend series, first traveling to Missouri (March 26-28) and LSU (April 2-4). Following the matchup with the Tigers, the Commodores return home to host Georgia (April 9-11) before facing in-state foe Tennessee on the road (April 16-18).
Vanderbilt will host three of its final five SEC series at home, including Mississippi State (April 23-25), Alabama (May 7-9) and Kentucky (May 20-22). Those three series will sandwich road trips to Florida (April-30-May 2) and Ole Miss (May 14-16).
The SEC slate is subject to change for television scheduling. The Commodores will release their nonconference schedule at a later date.
Six of Vanderbilt’s conference opponents are ranked in the D1Baseball Preseason Top 25, including top-ranked Florida, No. 6 Ole Miss, No. 7 Mississippi State, No. 12 LSU, No. 18 South Carolina and No. 19 Tennessee.
Vanderbilt has been ranked in the top 10 in three preseason polls. Most recently, the Commodores were tabbed fourth in D1Baseball’s Preseason Top 25, while being ranked second and sixth by Collegiate Baseball and Perfect Game, respectively.
