The UConn men's soccer team defeated the Holy Cross Crusaders 2-0 Sunday night in front of a sold out crowd at Morrone Stadium.

UConn started out on the front foot in this one creating attacking chances early and often in the final third. Graduate transfer Frantz Pierrot had an early chance in front of net in the 14th minute off a great pass by Maxwel De-Bodene inside the six yard box but was denied by the Holy Cross goalkeeper.
The Huskies got the breakthrough goal in the 20th minute by Junior forward Moussa Wade who scored off a free kick just outside the box. This is Wade's first goal of the 2022 season. UConn went into the half with the one goal lead.
UConn started off the second half much like they did in the first, dominating in possession and limiting Holy Cross to only two shots on goal. Freshman midfielder Pierce Bateson had a great chance in front of goal in the 48th minute but the Holy Cross goalkeeper made another great save to keep it a one score game.
The Huskies got their second goal of the night in the 55th minute by Pierrot. Mateo Leveque swung in a dangerous free kick that was loose in the box and buried by Pierrot into the back of the net. This is Pierrot's first goal in a UConn uniform and the 18th goal of his collegiate career. UConn went the win in the final thirty minutes dominating in possession sealing the first win of the 2022 season.
