The Orange returned back to campus to begin their spring training last Monday. The team has a very exciting and challenging schedule this spring including games against elite professional teams and tough non-conference college opponents.
The spring schedule will kick off against Forge FC on Saturday, Feb 5 in Hamilton, Ontario at 2:00 p.m. Forge has established themselves as the benchmark for success in the Canadian Professional League (CPL). They have won two of their last three CPL Championships and have qualified for the CONCACAF Champions League. The Orange will take on Forge FC in Hamilton less than one week after the Canada vs. U.S. national teams battled in a World Cup Qualifying game.
Syracuse will continue its spring schedule with one more game in February against Marist on the 18th at 2:30 p.m. The game will be played at a neutral location in Albany, N.Y. The Orange will take on American professional soccer team Rochester FC at their home stadium in Rochester N.Y. on Saturday, March 5.
The Orange play three road games in April against non-conference collegiate opponents. The first will be against long time rival Cornell on Saturday, April 2 followed by St. Johns on Saturday, April 9 and conclude at Colgate on Saturday, April 16. All times are to be determined.
"It is an important spring for our program as we look to grow and evolve as a group," said head coach Ian McIntyre. "We will be concentrating on both individual and team development throughout the spring. This schedule will tell us a great deal about our group".
