The COVID-19 pandemic continues to change the way high school and college sports are played as it was announced today that the McDonald's All American Games will not take place for the second year in a row.
While there will not be games played, there will be honors handed out. McDonald's announced over 700 male and female nominees for the 2021 games and stated it will announce the completed 48-player roster (24 male and 24 female) via a virtual ceremony later this month.
"While we're disappointed we can't hold in-person games this year, that does not take away from the accomplishments of this class and they will forever be a part of the legendary group of past and present McDonald's All Americans," said selection committee chairman Joe Wootten.
Washington, D.C. and 44 different states are represented on the list of nominees this year with Texas leading the pack. The Lone Star State has eighty-seven McDonald's All American nominees.
College basketball fans from around the country will keep an eye on these student-athletes - with many yet to announce where they plan to play college basketball.
