The University of Cincinnati baseball team swept its doubleheader against North Alabama, 9-0 and 9-8, on Saturday at UC Baseball Stadium.

The Bearcats (4-6) won the first game, 9-0, behind a complete-game, two-hit shutout from graduate right-handed pitcher Dylan Brosky (1-0). He earned his first win in a Cincinnati uniform in seven innings of work. 
 
Redshirt freshman CJ Dean went 2-for-3 in game one with his first career home run to go along with two RBI and a walk. 
 
Cincinnati held on to win game two, 9-8. Redshirt junior Zach Segal picked up his first win of the season in 2.2 innings of relief work while senior Mitch White earned the save. 
 
Freshman Landyn Vidourek went 2-for-5 with five RBI in game two. 
 
Junior Cole Harting finished the doubleheader 2-for-6 with a home run, four RBI and three walks. Sophomore Kerrington Cross went 4-for-8 with four runs scored, one RBI and a walk.
 
// HOW IT HAPPENED: GAME ONE
JP Sponseller started things off for the Bearcats with an RBI double in the bottom of the first inning. 
 
Cincinnati benefitted from two UNA errors in the second frame. Lauden Brooks reached on an error to lead off the inning, advanced to third after a sacrifice bunt by Cam Scheler and came home on a throwing error.
 
Kyle Schupmann then hit a two-out single to center field and crossed the plate after an RBI double from Cross. Cross would later steal third and score on a rundown play at second base that ended the inning.
 
Sponseller hit his second double of the day to begin the third inning. Harting then drew a walk to put runners on first and second. Sponseller raced home on a failed pickoff attempt at first to make it 5-0. 
 
The Bearcats hit a pair of homers in the fourth inning. Dean launched the first home run of his career, a two-run shot to left field, followed by a two-run shot to center field by Harting.
 
Brosky tossed a complete-game, two-hit shutout, striking out seven batters in seven innings of work. It marked the first complete-game shutout by a Bearcat since J.T. Perez on April 20, 2018 against No. 24 UConn. 
 
// HOW IT HAPPENED: GAME TWO
North Alabama struck first, but Cincinnati quickly got the run back with a bases-loaded RBI from Brooks in the bottom of the first inning. 
 
UNA reclaimed the advantage in the second on an RBI single, 2-1.
 
Segal came out of the bullpen in the third and allowed two runs on two hits in 2.2 innings of work.

Cincinnati jumped back in front for good in the bottom of the fourth inning. Vidourek provided a one-out, two-run single to right field. The Bearcats then loaded the bases for Harting who picked up an RBI.

The Bearcats scored five runs on three hits and one error in the fifth inning. Vidourek delivered a one-out, bases-clearing double to right field. Ryan Nicholson and Harting each drove in runs to end the inning with a 9-4 advantage.
 
The Lions responded with three runs in the top of the sixth to cut the Bearcats' lead to two, 9-7.
 
UNA threatened in the seventh with runners on first and third with no outs. Nick McClanahan got out of the jam with a pair of strikeouts and a line out. 
 
White entered the game in the ninth and struck out a pair to earn his first career save.
