The Big Ten Conference released the 2021 baseball schedule on Wednesday afternoon. All teams are scheduled to play 44 games consisting of five weekends with four games and eight weekends of three-game series.
Maryland will open the season with a four-game series against Michigan State in Greenville, South Carolina at Fluor Field, home of the Boston Red Sox Class-A affiliate Greenville Drive, on the weekend of March 5-7.
The Terps will open the home portion of the season the following weekend, March 12-14, with a four-game set against Rutgers at Bob "Turtle" Smith Stadium.
Maryland will travel to Penn State for a three-game series on the weekend of March 19-21.
The Terps then travel to Columbus, Ohio for the first of three 'pod weekends' where Maryland will play two opponents twice. On the weekend of March 26-28, the Terps will play a pair of games against the host Buckeyes and two neutral-site games versus Iowa.
The following weekend, April 2-4, Maryland will host both Michigan and Northwestern with the Terps playing both teams twice, as well as the Wolverines and Wildcats playing two games against each other.
Maryland travels to Nebraska for a three-game set the weekend of April 9-11 before returning home to host three games with Ohio State from April 16-18.
On the weekend of April 23-25, Maryland will travel to Iowa where the Terps will play two games against the Hawkeyes and two games against Northwestern.
Maryland finishes the season with five three-game weekend series. The Terps host Minnesota from April 30-May 2; travel to Illinois from May 7-9; host Purdue from May 14-16; head to Michigan from May 21-23 and close the season hosting Indiana from May 28-30.
All dates are subject to change and times and media coverage will be announced at a later date.
There will not be a Big Ten Baseball Tournament conducted in 2021.
The season will begin with no fans in attendance at Maryland athletic events out of an abundance of caution for the health and safety of our student-athletes and fans. Maryland athletics is hopeful that some fans will be welcomed to on-campus venues as the season progresses and health conditions permit.
